The gender equality argument in corporate decision-making bodies, namely listed companies, is in today's political and corporate agenda. Its relevance and timeliness are supported by several studies revealing that companies with greater gender balance within its management teams achieve better business results, growth and higher profitability.
Although the presence of women in the decision-making bodies of the largest listed companies in the last decade has increased eight-fold, from 2.6% in 2008 to 21.6% in 2018, Portugal remains below the European average of 27%.
It was with this motto that CIP decided to leave its comfort zone and invest in an innovative initiative that aims to boost women's access to roles of greater responsibility, namely in the direction and administration of companies.
In close partnership with its Spanish counterpart, and with the financial support of EEA Grants for a significant part of the activities, the first edition of the Promova Project was launched to support the development and training of women to increase their presence in companies’ top management.
The presentation of the project was attended by CIP’s President António Saraiva, Norwegian Ambassador Anders Edal, Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, EEA Grants National Focal Point Coordinator, Susana Ramos, President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, Teresa Fragoso, Promova Project’s CEO promoted by the CEOE Susana Cabana, and the Dean of Nova SBE, Daniel Traça.
The Promova Project, which is embodied in an Executive Education program designed in partnership with Nova SBE, distinguishes from others essentially in four aspects: coaching, cross-mentoring, networking potential and executive excellence.
At the presentation session, the Dean of Nova SBE stated that “We are moving towards a world where it is important to think, manage and innovate, which means that organizations have to be fundamentally different. Talent and the ability to leverage diversity will be key.”
Nova SBE Executive Education presents an executive program of excellence composed by three modules that aim to empower participants with the knowledge and skills that will help them succeed in management and administration roles.
CIP believes it will definitely contribute to greater social balance by promoting gender diversity in top management roles.
Promova Project is more than just an executive education program, it's the right opportunity for women who want to grow and get promoted!
